1840 an example of the 1d Mulready envelope (some creasing) together with an envelope bearing a 1d black from plate 1a lettered K.C. both being cancelled / tied by the distinctive orange-brown Maltese cross of Newport, Isle of Wight and both being used on the same day and dated on front of each cover for JY 8 1840. A rare and most unusual pair of covers.
