1839 essay attributed to James Bogardus and Francis Coffin, printed in red on white glazed paper employing a “Queens Head” based on the Wyon medal head, being set upon a security printed background. This type of design of design with a security background was very close to the eventual issues of 1840 and formed part of submissions to the Treasury Competition. A rare and most attractive pair.
