1872 an envelope bearing a vertical pair of the 1870 ½d rose-red issue from the very rare plate 9, addressed to Edinburgh and tied by a single strike of the Beauly Inverness-shire, "39" duplex in black ink dated for JY 18 72. A very rare cover indeed and the first use we have seen in the north of Scotland. Bov#862
