1840 1d black plate 5 lettered P.D. on an entire wrapper from the remote hamlet of Watten, Caithness, addressed to Wick dated for February 1841 together with a wrapper from the same correspondence and sent from Watten in April 1841, bearing an 1841 1d red-brown issue from plate 8 lettered A.I.. Both adhesives have been cancelled by a solid homemade obliterator in red ink employed by the postmaster of Watten as he had not been issued with an official Maltese cross handstamp or instructions to use black ink from January 1841. A very rare and most unusual pair of covers. R.P.S. Certificates Nos 166043 and 166053. Bov#205
