1857 two 1d rose-red issues on piece both being cancelled by the "Westray" Island of Westray, Orkney Islands, type VIII Scots Local handstamp in black ink. These two pieces show an inconsistency in the use of the local namestamp. The first shows the handstamp applied on its own, with the second being further cancelled by the 1844 numeral of the head office of Kirkwall. A rare and most unuusal group. Bov#169
