1843 an envelope bearing an 1841 1d red-brown issue being tied by the type 1 "Brae" Scots Local handstamp in blue ink, addressed to a teacher 22 miles away in Tangwick with manuscript instruction "Via Hillswick/to be forwarded with/ first opportunity". The cover did not pass through the head office of Lerwick due to its relatively local use. This is the only known cover bearing this mark. Bov#778
