1843 an entire printed wrapper addressed to Dingwall bearing an 1841 1d red-brown issue from plate 28 lettered E.B. being tied by the distinctive Maltese cross of Pool-ewe, which due to damage has the internal crosses missing. This handstamp was replaced in the late summer of 1843. The wrapper also bears on front the old style "Pool-ewe / 706-E" mileage mark introduced in 1835 denoting the miles from London and routing of the mail from this office through Edinburgh.
