1861 an envelope addressed to France being landed by private ship at Peterhead, handstamped with the Peterhead c.d.s. for JY 30 and also bearing the boxed "Peterhead/Ship Letter" handstamp in black ink. The cover bears a pair of the 1857 4d rose issue, which were left uncancelled at Peterhead, finally being cancelled at the Chief Office in London, with the numeral "50" exceptionally in red ink. A very rare and most attractive cover in so many respects. Bov#290
